چکیده

Abstract The incidence of brain metastases (BM) amongst cancer patients has been increasing due to improvements in therapeutic options and an increase overall survival. Molecular characterization tumors provided insights into the biology oncogenic drivers BM molecular subtype-based screening. Though there are currently some screening surveillance guidelines for BM, they remain limited. In this comprehensive review, we review present epidemiological data on their characterization, current guidelines. subtypes with highest EGFR-mutated NSCLC, BRCA1, TN, HER2+ breast cancers, BRAF-mutated melanoma. Furthermore, BMs more likely asymptomatically at diagnosis oncogene-addicted NSCLC European standards recommend frequent patients, clinical trials investigating HR+, HER2+, TN cancers. However, work is needed determine optimal other primary subtypes. With advent personalized medicine, revolutionized landscape treatment prognostication. Incorporating may allow physicians better identify high risk development improve patient outcomes.

Molecular Biology of Brain Metastasis

Metastasis to the central nervous system (CNS) remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with systemic cancer. As the length of survival in patients with systemic cancer improves, thanks to multimodality therapies, focusing on metastases to the CNS becomes of paramount importance. Unique interactions between the brain's micro-environment, blood-brain barrier, and tumor cells ...

The Molecular Biology of Brain Metastasis

Metastasis to the central nervous system (CNS) remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with systemic cancers. Various crucial interactions between the brain environment and tumor cells take place during the development of the cancer at its new location. The rapid expansion in molecular biology and genetics has advanced our knowledge of the underlying mechanisms involved, fr...

18FDG PET/CT in pulmonary carcinosarcoma and brain metastasis

Carcinosarcoma is a rare type of cancer that is composed of a mixture of sarcomatous and carcinomatous elements. Pulmonary carcinosarcoma has a 25% five-year survival rate with a prognosis poorer than other non-small cell lung carcinomas. Herein, we report a case of pulmonary carcinosarcoma and its 18F-FDG PET/CT findings. A 61-year-old male patient presented with brain symptoms, including hea...

Molecular Aspects of Breast Cancer Metastasis to the Brain

Our knowledge of the biology underlying the development of brain metastases (BM) from breast cancer has improved over the last decade due to large clinical epidemiological studies, animal models of metastasis, and the use of high-resolution gene expression profiling technologies. However, there are still major gaps in our understanding of the mechanisms utilized by breast cancer cells to coloni...

Molecular targets of pomegranate (Punica granatum) in preventing cancer metastasis

Metastasis is the primary cause of mortality and morbidity among cancer patients and accounts for about 90% of cancer deaths. The most common types of treatment for cancer metastasis are chemotherapy and radiotherapy. However, such therapy has many serious side effects that could diminish the quality of life in patients. There is increased appreciation by the scientific community that natural c...
